This course aims to introduce participants to design innovation. With the help of MIT App Inventor, an interactive programming interface perfect for beginners at coding, this class will challenge the participants to come up with creative solutions to a problem which all of them should be able to relate to – waking up for school!
The workshop will involve learning the App Inventor software, creating an application on it and also understanding the entire process of design thinking, a technique which requires the inventor/designer to truly understand the problem before beginning to ideate on a solution. Though not always the case, this time, the participants have a problem which they can easily understand and empathize with, which will serve as a great stepping stone for all participants to enter into the world of design innovation. by the end of this course, participants will have a good grasp of basic coding concepts such as loops and conditionals. In addition, they will learn and apply useful design methodologies that will boost their creativity. If your child has a basic background in MIT App Inventor, you can enroll him in our advanced class here 🙂
Reinvent your waking up experience
- Computational Thinking: Learn coding concepts (loops, conditionals, cloud database etc) by building several Android apps.
- Design Thinking: Solve real-world problem through design thinking which includes interviewing users and understand their pain points.
- Making: Build and improve the app iteratively based on feedback received from users.
